Chief Engineer Position

Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Co

We are in need of someone, possibly a retired vehicle mechanic, that wants to keep busy and help their community in a volunteer capacity on a part time basis by keeping our fleet of vehicles in top shape and always ready to respond. Our vehicles include 3 large fire apparatus, 1 ambulance and 3 pickup trucks. All vehicles have diesel engines except one gas pickup truck.

We are in need of someone with a vehicle mechanical and electrical background to see that routine service, breakdown service and PA state inspections are timely done by our repair shop vendors. Most work is done at our station by repair shop mobile technicians. Small repairs can be done in house if within the capability of the Chief Engineer.

Duties include scheduling of vehicles for PA state inspection, annual license renewals and for routine maintenance and breakdowns. Delivery and pickup of vehicles to repair shop vendors for service if not using a mobile technician. Ensure truck engineers are performing monthly maintenance checks on vehicles, maintain an orderly and neat maintenance shop, oversee annual NFPA pump testing and hose testing by an outside vendor, plan for replacement of tires and batteries before expiration.

If you think you would be interested in volunteering and have the background experience, please contact our Office Manager, Joe Hopple at 570-323-1665 and leave your name and phone number. Someone will return your call. You would have to join our fire company as a member for workman compensation insurance purposes so an application would have to be completed followed by a review process by our membership committee and approval by the membership.
