CO Alarms Work!

For the second time this heating season, a homeowner has called our station with the question “my CO alarm is going off and it will not stop”.  Both incidents we immediately responded and investigated, both times the CO alarm did its job as there was CO present in the home (one situation had life threatening levels).  We want everyone to takeaway these two points from this post:

1. IF your CO detector is less than 10 years old and it activates, believe it!  They are very accurate and if it goes off it is detecting CO.  Call 911 and let us help find the problem before you or your family suffer CO poisoning.

 

2. IF YOU NEED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE FIRE STATION CALL 911.  Our station does have crews here 24 hours, but those crews are also busy and may not be here when you call.  The 911 dispatchers are educated with the proper questions to ask you to send the help you need.
